Temporary Closure Notice

Dear Community Members and Library Patrons,
It is with heavy hearts that we share this important update regarding our Genesee Area Library. Beginning June 1st, the library will temporarily close as we continue to work to fill the Library Director position.
Please know this decision was not made lightly. We have worked diligently to keep the library open; however, due to Pennsylvania’s state requirements for certified library directors, the pool of eligible candidates has been extremely limited. Unfortunately, this challenge is affecting many small libraries across the state.
To minimize disruption during this time:
- Any library cards set to expire in June, July, or August will be automatically renewed to ensure continued access to digital resources and other library services.
- Please return materials via the outside drop box as they come due. Items will continue to be checked in regularly.
- Questions or concerns can be sent to library@geneseelibrary.com, but please note that messages will be checked once per week starting June 1st and we ask for your patience as we respond to them.
We remain committed to serving the Genesee community and are actively pursuing solutions to reopen as soon as possible. We ask you, our fellow community members, to support us in this effort by sharing our job posting to all you may know who may be interested in filling this role.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support.
For updates, please visit our website or follow us on social media.
Respectfully,
Genesee Area Library Board
